We need your help on choosing a date
Proposed dates: Saturday, May 31st; Saturday, June 7th; Saturday, June 28th
Meet at: The Pavilion at 9:00 am
Join us for a fun, hands-on day of giving back to our beautiful Lakewood neighborhood! Whether you’ve got green thumbs, creative flair, or just want to lend a hand, there’s something for everyone!
The main goal for this is for any resident or member of our community who wants to participate in the betterment of our wonderful community, while also giving them the option to choose their own project and their “team”; to do something they feel is needed, or that they are passionate about or just want help our community and our wonderful members.
While any and all suggestions are welcome, here are some ideas I have thought of to help:
●Beautification Projects
– Neighborhood Clean-Up: Pick up trash, clean sidewalks, etc.
– Community Garden Workday: Start or revamp a shared garden space, plant flowers in the boxes or around signs, etc.
– Tree Planting or Mulching: Partner together to plant a tree, freshen mulching, etc.
– Paint-a-thon: Freshen up fences, benches, the street names on the flower boxes, etc.
– Playground Clean-up: Clean playground equipment, rebuild sandbox, etc.
– Sustainability Activities: Host a session on pollinators, bee-keeping.
● Helping Neighbors in Need
– Yard Help for Seniors/Disabled: Rake leaves, mow lawns, or do small outdoor repairs.
– Home Safety Checks: Work with local firefighters to install smoke detectors.
– Donation Drive: Collect and sort clothes, food, or school supplies for shelters.
– Cook & Share: Prepare and deliver meals to those in need or host a free BBQ for volunteers.
● Eco and Sustainability Focused
– Recycling Education Booths: Teach proper recycling and composting habits.
– Waste Collection: Safely gather old appliances, bulky items, mechanical, electronics, etc. for recycling.
– Upcycling Station: Turn old jars, t-shirts, or pallets into useful or decorative items.
● Kid and Family-Friendly Activities
– Book Swap + Story Time: Encourage literacy and sharing.
– Kindness Rocks Painting: Create and hide positive message rocks around the area.
– Bird Feeder or Birdhouse Craft Table: Encourage backyard biodiversity.
● Community Bonding & Support
– Free Little Pantry Setup: Build or stock a neighborhood pantry or library.
– Cook & Share: Prepare and deliver meals to those in need or host a free BBQ for volunteers.
● Pet-Friendly Ideas
– Dog Wash Fundraiser: Simple, fun, and helpful for shelters.
– Pet Supply Drive: Gather food and toys for local animal shelters
